Because, apparently, not enough had gone wrong today
This happened in the oven, early enough in the process that a bunch of kugel batter glorped through the crack, onto the oven floor, and burned, producing voluminous smoke.
Hi Maria-- Actually, it was an older piece of Anchor Hocking. I think it had been stressed--it already had a chip in one corner. Thanks for the heads-up about Pyrex though, I didn't know that.
Oh! This is because new Pyrex bakeware isn't actually made out of borosilicate glass. It's just made with regular glass. Corning sold the Pyrex name.
