Some sociology
This, from Matus Sotak, is spot on. However, as a recent lecturer, I think I can add to it.
Click to make legible. No mystery in how lecturers view undergrads and their TAs, nor in how those groups view the lecturer. To postdocs, we are a "there but for the grace of God go I" cautionary tale, and for P.I.s, we are pretty much faceless. There are necessarily some gaps; while lecturers are "whats-his-name" to professors, we simply live in different worlds from techs. And lecturers do our best to not think about postdocs and P.I.s.
