Another Dvorak Humoreske, Opus 101 number 6, with a lagniappe of a short piece from his "Silhouettes". Really charming music, by a first-rate composer--yet one never hears Dvorak's piano music. Even my piano teacher hadn't heard of these pieces, and now he says "Why isn't this stuff played more?" There is one irritating exception, the Humoreske #7. This poor, inoffensive piece is ritually slaughtered--on the violin and piano--by every Suzuki student in the world (mea culpa--I did this too, unwillingly, and with predictably awful results. To atone and make amends to the ghost of Dvorak, I'm going to be posting a video of this piece, as written for piano, in the near future).
